G.O.O.D x E.V.I.L 34 - A
By LadySpace
The lights flickered again and Ana shrugged. She turned around.
Couldn't help but feel that someone was following her. With a sigh,
she forced her mind at ease, again subduing the fear that threatened
to block her very moves. She couldn't let it get the best of her. She
wouldn't. It wasn't the first time she had been left alone in a strange
country with a language that wasn't her own – sure, the first time she
wasn't in a trashed hotel and things were pretty much under control
for her, she didn't someone who would jump around some corner and
want her red hair as a souvenir or something…

She shrugged again at those thoughts. Good thing she had left
Breno with the Tribute band. He wouldn't resist trying and scaring her
– sometimes it's really difficult to date a tribute Ace – and she might
end up needing to kick his balls or something. She kept walking while
her mind drifted back to the room where she left them. She hoped it'd
be safe enough.
Breno didn't like the idea of her going out alone at first, but he did
accept it better when she said she needed him to keep an eye on the
other boys. She wasn't sure it was a good idea to leave them all alone
as well, since all of them seemed a little weird by that time. Rafael –
the tribute Paul – seemed very sick, couldn't leave the bed. It worried
her, since he was the calmer one and the only one whom she could be
sure wouldn't do anything silly. Drakkon, the Gene tribute, seemed
well enough, though, even thrilled. Tom, the drummer, was
discussing with Breno some problems they still had with 100,000 years
and the pyros when she left the room. Well – she thought – as long as
they keep talking about music it should keep them busy 'til she could
come back. If at least Tom could decide if he wanted to be a tribute
Peter or Eric Carr…
Her thoughts were interrupted by something crossing her line of
vision. She jumped back right at the time a light bulb fell in front of
her. Panting, she turned to another side, situation already forgotten.
Absently she ran her fingers through her hair and yelped lightly as her
nails scratched the back of her head 'Gotta cut them…' she thought,
while running to the lobby.
Still deep in thought, she let out a low yelp as something knocked
her down. Dizzy, she half righted herself and looked at the truck that
had hit her. Amazed, she took note of the situation: She was sitting
on her butt, her hair all messy, her face covered with dust, looking up
at Paul Stanley!

'Hey babe… I'm sorry…' He looked down at her, one hand
extended to help her up, his mahogany eyes set upon her. She
blushed deeply, noticing it has been some seconds already and he
hadn't moved, waiting for her.
She carefully touched his hand, barely using it to help her up. She
almost laughed at how weird things were. The hotel was thrashed,
something bad was happening – and she knew it, although she didn't
know how… She remembered how sometimes her dogs would howl
before a thunderstorm and she felt like howling now – and she was
there, focusing on Paul's hand. Strange. The first time she had seen
him she was in such awe that she didn't take the time to look at
details. Now she noticed that his hand wasn't soft and warm, but
rough and marked, the hand of a guitarist. Maybe now she'd be better
equipped to judge it, she thought, after dating Breno for so long… or
maybe it was just the time…
'Are you alright?' his carefully modulated voice interrupted her
thoughts. She shook her head and looked into his eyes. Suddenly, it
struck her. Something wasn't right.
     'Y- yes…' she mumbled… 'I am sorry… I should be more careful…'
'It's ok babe… the place's a mess and it was me whom ran over
you. Can I help you?'
'I… I… I need to find some friends' she said, thoughtfully.
Something told her not to tell Paul everything she had been through.
She looked again into his eyes and it was still there, whatever it was
that she felt was wrong.
She turned around quickly, cold sweat running down her face 'don't
be stupid Ana, damn it… this is Paul. You've been by his side once.
It's no big deal…'
The man touched her shoulder lightly, but even that touch brought
shivers through her spine 'Are you sure you're all right? I was going
somewhere but maybe I can go with you and help you find your friend.
I am sure Raven would like it if I tried and helped you.'
She suddenly spun around 'How do you…' she shut up, seeing now
something else in his eyes.
He looked at her with a kind face, which somehow didn't seem
right 'Yes?'
'I mean… how… how can you be so nice?' she bit her lower lip,
praying that he couldn't somehow read her thoughts. Somehow she
did knew that, if he had the lightest idea of what was going through
her mind, she wouldn't leave the lobby alive.
He smiled and something inside her sighed in relief 'Oh, you're a
fan, babe, I always do my best for my fans, even though sometimes
they don't…' he trailed off, spinning around, looking to the end of the
corridor. 'Look, I have to go… Maybe we can talk later? I am looking
for those Brazilian girls… got something to tell them' and he ran away,
forgetting her.
Ana sighed deeply, still not totally sure of what was the danger she
felt, but knowing that if he knew whom she was, she wouldn't leave
there alive. But it was Paul, right… she knew Paul… he was the kindest
man alive and… she shook her head and decided she'd think about it
later. Now she HAD to find Raven… or Shandi… or Stephanie… some
of them HAD to help her.
The lobby seemed pretty much deserted. How would she know
where to go? With a sigh, she looked at the entrance counter. Yes,
that's it… looking around and making sure she wouldn't be busted, -
even though she didn't believe anyone would care at this point, but
she didn't want to be accused of trying to rob the hotel or something -
she stepped behind it, looking for the registration book. An important
hotel like that one couldn't use only the computer… Yes! Here it was.
She ran her finger through the lines of the book, looking for
something. A smile came to her face when she found Ace's name 'Paul
Frehley' and she got distracted a little bit with his nice writing and
such… Suddenly the lights went off.
She cursed fluently in Portuguese, her first language, and
shrugged. Damn… She had to get distracted by Ace's name… now,
she couldn't see a thing. There was no way she could read with that
light and… She let out a low moan as she blinked her eyes.
Somehow, things seemed to get clearer. She could read the words in
the book. Without a second thought – she'd thank whoever lit that
strange green light later – she scrolled through the lines in the book
and found Raven's name. With a smile, she noted that Raven was in
the same corridor as Ace. Playing with the thoughts that later she
could pay Ace a little visit – she grinned – and maybe even get him to
talk to her this time, since last time he was too busy with his boots,
she ran to the corridor the book indicated.
Panting, she found the door. It was weird. The hotel was dark and
the lights seemed to really have died, but that weird green light
followed her and she could see just too well. Strange color for a
security light. Dismissing the thought, she knocked on Raven's door.
Waited.
No answer. She couldn't believe it! After all that work. She
knocked again and again. She waited. When it became obvious that
no one would answer anyway, she felt desperation take her over.
She'd never be able to go back to KnightS room now. It was dark and
she hadn't paid attention to where she was running. That hotel was
just too huge! She fought against the hot tears that insisted in
running down her face, rebelled. No, it wouldn't happen… she would
find a way, she would go back, she would…
And finally she realized it. She wouldn't do a thing. Paul – or
whatever that was – could already have found her friends. They could
be dead. Letting her back slide against the door, she fell to the
ground, in shock, when she realized she could be really alone and that
wasn't a game anymore or a trip… it was a real danger situation. She
began sobbing and sighing, hiding her face into her arms, curled
against herself, scared, lost. Her body convulsed with the deep sobs
as she let out the anguish and fear she felt.
That was how Ace found her, when he went back to his room.
