Part 28 by Star

"I can't believe you let Holly get kidnapped!" Stephanie

said to Eric angrily, as she paced back and forth in her

hotel room.

Eric frowned at her as he glanced at the lights beginning

to flicker. "Um can you calm down maybe just a little."

"I am calm. I'm very calm." Stephanie muttered, and Eric

shook his head with a grin "uh huh and what do you call

that?" He asked, pointing to the flickering lights.

Stephanie stared up at the lights, and frowned "Are you

saying that's me doing that?"

Eric nodded. "It's your gifts. You really need to control

them. The only way you're going to do that is through

emotional control. Maybe you should talk to Paul about

that."

"Paul? What the hell does he have to do with this?"

Stephanie muttered, blushing slightly as she thought of her

favourite Kiss member.

"Paul's powers are linked to emotions. You might say he can

sense them. Maybe he might be able to help you in some way

to control yours."

"I don't know. " Stephanie said, chewing her lip as she

thought about it. "I really don't think I need to worry.

I'm pretty capable of keeping my emotions in check."

"Sure you are. So you're not going to freak over the fact

there is a huge spider crawling up the wall."

Stephanie jumped slightly "Did you say spider?"

Eric nodded, noticing the lights beginning to flicker

again.

"I don't like spiders." Stephanie muttered, as she began to

look frantically around the room for the spider.

"I'm sure it's not poisonous. It might bite though." Eric

added, leaning against the balcony.

"Poisonous? Did you say bite?" Stephanie asked, going

slowly white.

Eric nodded, glancing again up at the light flickering. He

jumped slightly when the light bulb exploded.

"It looks like you really have your emotions under

control." He murmured and she looked at him "Who cares

about my emotions. Let's find this spider. I can't see it.

You're not leaving until it's dead."

Eric smiled "There is no spider. I just wanted to show you

that you don't have control over your emotions."

"That wasn't funny! How could you do that to me!" Stephanie

said, spinning around to look at Eric with blazing eyes.

Eric gulped, wondering if he should have chosen something

else for an example. "I needed to prove a point."

"So you use one of the only things in this shitty world

that truly scares the hell out of me?" Stephanie spat at

him.

Eric frowned, as the slight breeze began to pick up. "You

need to be made aware of the strong connections between

your powers and your emotions."

"You know I thought you were supposed to be helping people.

Not letting one of us get kidnapped, and certainly not

scaring the hell out of us."

Eric glanced up as he watched the sky darken, and heard the

clap of thunder.

He felt a strange energy go through him. It was like he was

aware of all the other KISS members past and present and of

people who were somehow connected to them. He felt a flare

of protectiveness as, for one brief second, he got a

glimpse of what they could be, what they would be, and the

nightmare of what they could be if such power was misused.

"Ah Stephanie.." He began, pausing as the wind began to

howl louder.

Stephanie ignored Eric as she continued to pace the floor,

her mind working furiously over everything that had been

happening in the last 24 hours. First Holly being kidnapped

and then she'd found out that Lady M was missing as well.

This was not a good sign.

Eric watched slightly fascinated as lightning began to

crash upon the darkening clouds. When he had decided to set

an example he hadn't quite realised how well he would set

her off. He wondered if he should have waited until she had

calmed down over Holly being kidnapped before using the

spider as an example.

Noticing the lightning getting closer he moved over to

Stephanie, and grabbed her.

"Calm down!" He shouted over the wind.

"Don't tell me to calm down." She roared, her eyes pinning

Eric down. Instinctively Eric knew grabbing her had been a

big mistake, as he felt himself flying across the room to

land in a crumpled heap.

Stephanie gasped in horror, as she watched Eric slam

against the wall. Quickly moving over to him she checked

for his pulse, and sighed in relief as she felt the steady

beat.

"I really hate this job." He groaned, as he sat up dizzily.

"What happened? One minute I was yelling and the next

minute you were on the floor."

Eric nodded, glancing at the sky, and noticing the storm

was still raging. Nodding his head towards the sky he

muttered "Do you think maybe you could count to ten or

something. I really don't want to be thrown against another

wall again anytime soon."

Stephanie looked at him, tears sliding her cheeks "That was

me? I did that? But I didn't touch you."

Eric sighed, reaching out and stroking her cheek. "You

don't need to touch someone to hurt them."

"But I didn't mean.I was angry." Stephanie said, hiccuping

as she wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.

"It's okay." Eric said, pulling her gingerly to him and

patting her back. He sighed in relief, as the wind began to

settle, and the rain began to gently hit the windowpanes.

He frowned as he wondered why no one had ever detected the

fact Stephanie could obviously move things in her mind when

she was angry. Grimly he decided he was going to have a

little talk with Val. She was supposed to know all of the

girl's powers. He wondered why she hadn't clued him in

about this.

"Are you okay now?" He asked slightly, and she nodded, her

voice muffled against his shirt. "I'm sorry about throwing

you across the room."

Eric grinned "Look on the bright side at least you hadn't

thought about killing me or something like that."

A thought occurred to Eric and he asked cautiously "You

don't get PMS do you?" Stephanie nodded, "I take medication

though. Because of the whole mood swings."

Eric sighed in relief, and stood stretching, and wincing

over the ache in his bones. He moved to the balcony, and

surveyed the mess below. He was going to have to do some

serious explaining over this.

A shudder went through him as he wondered whether Buttercup

knew the full extent of Stephanie's powers, and if so how

exactly would she fit into his demonic plans. He decided

that he mustn't know about them. If they had been unaware

of them then Buttercup surely wouldn't be clued into them.

He couldn't help smiling over that fact. And Buttercup

thought he had problems with Shannon and Raven. He wouldn't

know what hit him with Stephanie, and he meant that

literally.

"Did I do all this?" Stephanie asked in amazement, as she

moved onto the balcony, and looked down at where a car was

in the hotel swimming pool, and a tree had smashed through

the hotel foyer.

Eric nodded "Now are you beginning to understand why you

need to control your emotions, and work on controlling your

rage."

Stephanie nodded sheepishly. "Maybe I should speak to

Paul."

Eric nodded "I think maybe I should get him. This way I can

explain things to him. He's going to be surprised that I'm

alive and well." He grinned, as he thought of the

expression on Paul Stanley's face at seeing him again. He

couldn't wait.

He moved towards the door, and reached for the handle.

Pausing he murmured "Try not to make something combust or

put a tree through something okay?"

Stephanie gave him a brief nod, as she continued to survey

the disaster below.

***

Paul looked up from his book, as he heard the knocking on

the door. Val had been quicker than she had said she would

be, he thought as he opened the door. He bit back a gasp of

shock as he instantly recognised the person standing in

front of him.

"Eric?" He asked inanely, and Eric nodded "Can I come in?

Good, and what's up with your voice."

Paul stepped aside as Eric moved into his room and surveyed

it. "Nice room."

Paul nodded before saying, "You're dead."

"No. Actually I am pretty alive. I'd say pinch me but the

last person who did that pinched really hard. Actually

that's why I'm here. She needs your help."

"My help. I don't understand.did you say she needs my

help?" Paul asked.

Eric grinned "I thought that might at least get your

attention."

"It did. Who is she, and why would she need my help?"

"Stephanie Carovella. " Eric answered, and Paul interrupted

"The Journalist covering our tour?"

Eric nodded "That's the one. You could say she has some

emotional issues that need to be dealt with, and you're the

only one that can help."

Paul frowned "But why me?"

Eric sighed "I'll explain it on the way to her hotel room."

He said, and Paul nodded "I have to leave a note for Val."

"There's no time. Come on." Eric said, frowning when Ace

burst into Paul's room.

"Hey what's up with the hotel power. It's like the whole

circuit has blown." Ace paused and noticed Eric for the

first time. "Hey Eric." He murmured before continuing "The

hotel looks like something I would have done back in the

70's. It's that trashed."

Ace paused before looking at Eric again "For a dead guy you

look awfully good curly."

"I'm not, and I'll explain on the way over to Stephanie's

room." Eric said, before grabbing Ace and Paul's arms and

literally dragging them out of the room.

"I see you're still as pushy as ever." Ace muttered, as he

allowed himself to be dragged.

"Be quiet and both of you listen to what I have to tell

you." Eric growled, as he began to explain everything that

had happened to them lately, and in the past.

Reaching Stephanie's hotel room he paused "I want you to

watch what you say to Stephanie. She's slightly

temperamental, and I don't think you want to be on the

receiving end of her anger. Believe me." Eric added,

rubbing his head again.

Stephanie jumped slightly when Eric touched her shoulder.

"Could you not creep up on me like that?" She muttered, and

he smiled "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you."

"Yeah well you're good at doing that." Stephanie replied,

hooking her fingers in her jeans and staring to where Paul

and Ace stood behind Eric.

"So I guess you told them about my being a freak of nature

then?" She asked, and he frowned, "You are not a freak of

nature."

"Oh that's right I'm a delicate." Stephanie said with a

snort, turning her back towards Eric. "Do you know how it

feels finding out that you're the reason events have

occurred. I know you mentioned them to me before but until

now I didn't really think about them. Ex boyfriends being

hurt mirrors shattering.until now I didn't think it was me.

But it was wasn't it."

Eric nodded "It's not your fault."

Stephanie turned to him, with tear filled eyes "How can you

say it's not my fault? I've hurt people that I have loved.

And then there are my future relationships. How can I love

any man without worrying that I might hurt him.or kill him?

You felt what I did to you, and that was without thinking

about it. What happens if I feel like I want them dead."

Eric smiled at her "This is why you need Paul's help. Val

will be able to instruct you too."

"Val? As in Val from the list?" Stephanie asked, before

putting up her hand "No don't even tell me what her gift is

I don't want to know."

Moving past Eric Stephanie stood in front of Ace and Paul

with her hands on her hips. "So is there any chance I can

exchange whatever gift I have because this one sucks."

"So Eric say's you're the reason the hotel got

redecorated." Ace said with a cackle, as he cocked his head

to the side and studied Stephanie. "Any chance you're the

one who reformatted my computer too? If so do you think you

could switch it back? It took me forever to get everything

the way I wanted."

Stephanie looked at him and shrugged "Sorry don't know if

you can blame me for that."

Ace grinned "If I ask you something will you promise not to

electrocute me?"

Stephanie nodded with a grin and looked questioningly at

Ace. "What does it feel like?"

"What does what feel like?" She asked, slightly puzzled

over his question.

"I mean the power, the energy that must flow through your

veins as you create a storm or something like that. It must

be a head spinner." Ace said, her eyes sparkling with

interest.

Stephanie shook her head "Its not it's horrible. I can't

control anything, and everything just gets shot to hell."

"Yes but if Paul could help you control your emotions.

Imagine all the fun you could have with them. You could

make it rain, snow, or sunny whenever you felt like it. And

the ability to send someone into next week."

"I'll send you into next week if you don't stop your

incoherent babbling. This isn't a toy Ace." Paul growled.

"It's not something you want to play with."

Ace gulped as he noticed Paul's eye begin to glow red. "I

was just wondering no need to go postal on me." He

muttered.

"Take my hand." Paul commanded to Stephanie and she looked

at Eric tentatively.

"It's okay. Go with him. He's only going to talk to you.

It's too soon for you to start your lessons. He just needs

to know how strong your gifts are." Eric said soothingly,

and Stephanie nodded, looking at Paul's out stretched hand

before taking it. She let him guide her to sit down on the

bed beside him, as he began to slowly and softly ask

questions about her gifts.

"Let's give them some space, and try and find Peter." Eric

murmured, tugging at Ace's sleeve. Ace nodded, glancing

back at the two sitting on the bed. "Is it going to be wise

leaving them alone together?"

Eric rolled his eyes "It's strictly shop talk. What's the

worse that could happen? Paul should be able to handle her

emotions, and will be able to sense if anything is wrong."

Ace shrugged "That's not what I'm worried about. During the

previous interviews they've done some serial flirting with

each other. I'd hate to think what would happen if the two

of them got together. Talk about literally being able to

make the earth move."

Eric sighed "I think that's the last thing on their minds

right now. Relax."

"Maybe." Ace grumbled, quickly glancing again back at the

two talking softly, before shaking his head and leaving the

room.

***

Paul smiled softly as he watched Ace and Eric leave the

room. He knew Eric would give him the time that he needed

to find out as much as he could about Stephanie's powers.

"You're nervous." Paul murmured, and Stephanie nodded,

surprise registering on her face "How did you know." She

paused before she continued slowly "It's part of your gift.

You can read emotions."

Paul nodded "Yes I can read emotions. I also have the

ability to control and affect emotions, as well read and

control minds."

"Wanna swap gifts then?" Stephanie asked before pausing

again "So if you can read my mind tell me what I'm thinking

right now?"

Paul shook his head with a grin "Honey you could get us

arrested for that in some states."

Stephanie went red "You actually can read minds then?"

Paul nodded again "Afraid so."

"Wow. Nice gift. It's so much better than mine is. I just

trash hotels, and throw people around." Stephanie

commented, looking around the dishevelled hotel room.

Paul smiled "We'll be able to fix that. You just need to

learn how to control your gifts. Then you should be fine."

Stephanie grinned "Oh is that all?" She asked teasingly,

and Paul laughed. "Believe me it's easier than you think."

Stephanie nodded, taking a deep breath she asked "So when

do we start?"

"Not straight away. I'm going to have to find out some

information first, and I'm sure that Val will also want to

talk to you."

"I don't know if I'll be able to answer everything but I'll

try." Stephanie said, tapping her fingers nervously against

her leg.

Paul noticed and took her hand "There's no need to be

nervous."

"I'm not." She rebutted before noticing his arched eyebrow

"Okay well maybe just a little."

"Relax.I don't bite." Paul teased, and Stephanie nodded,

cocking her head to the side as she began to concentrate on

the questions that Paul was asking her.

***

Eric Singer frowned, as he flicked through the television

channels. He scowled at the fact the hotel menu was still

the only thing that was coming up.

"Still scrambled?" Bruce asked, as he took in Eric's piqued

expression. Eric nodded in disgust "You'd think with the

prestige of this hotel that they could fix a television

set. I hate missing Trek. I'm going to go and see if

someone can fix it." He growled before stalking out of the

room, a determined expression on his face.

Bruce grinned. He'd never met someone quite obsessed with

Trek before. Eric was always grouchy if he missed one

episode of his favourite show, even if it was only a

repeat.

His grin faded slowly, as a slight jolt of pain hit him.

Closing his eyes he knew instantly something was deadly

wrong. It had to be Lorie. Something was wrong with her. He

could feel her pain, and anguish. When Val had explained to

him about being a Master and Lorie being his slave he

thought that it was a load of rubbish. After all he'd only

slept with her that one time. But now he was beginning to

realise that she was telling the truth.

He wondered what was wrong with her. He couldn't detect

whether Buttercup had captured her. All he knew was that

the emotions were completely overwhelming him. He felt like

he had no control over them. He could feel such pain and

anguish and a deep sense of darkness and bleakness.

Standing up he sank to his knees as a wave of pain hit him.

It hit him again and he lifted his head and howled his

anguish, as he shifted in shape from a human to a wolf, and

then back again.

***

Eric Carr shivered as he heard the lone distant howl. It

was one of pure anguish. Ace jumped slightly "What was

that?"

Eric shrugged "Maybe a dog or something." He said and Ace

shook his head "I've never heard a dog howl like that

before!"

Eric nodded, stopping in his tracks at the sight of the

foyer. Ace whistled "This is some redecorating."

Eric nodded, wondering where everyone was. The foyer was

completely silent, and no one was in sight.

Ace cackled, as he moved his way through the mess. "Looks

like my computer wasn't the only one Stephanie messed

with."

"I don't think she was the cause of it." Eric said slowly,

as he noticed the automatic doors were locked open, and

cocked his head at the continuous screeching sound of car

alarms.

"If she didn't then who did?" Ace asked, craning his neck

to try and look past the massive oak tree in the middle of

the foyer.

"It must have been Raven." Eric said, before gently

smacking himself on the head "Of course. This explains

things. Raven must be the probability manipulator. We have

to find her quickly. If she is claimed." Eric stopped and

shuddered.

"Claimed?" Ace asked, and Eric quickly explained "If one of

the gifted sleep with us they get a nice little tattoo on

their chest, and are forever ours. We are their master and

they are our slave."

"Cool." Ace said before asking "Can we have more than one?"

Eric groaned before saying, "It's not good. Do you have any

idea the damage that can occur if a delicate is claimed by

one of us. The havoc?"

Ace sighed "Isn't Stephanie a delicate?" He asked and Eric

nodded "But Val would have explained to Paul what would

happen if he claims a delicate."

Ace nodded "So explain this to me one more time." Eric

sighed and with a nod began to explain it to Ace again.

***

"That wasn't so hard now was it?" Paul teased and Stephanie

shook her head "I guess not. It's all so confusing though,

and I can't help feeling guilty over Holly. She kept

telling me someone was following us but I didn't believe

her, and then she got kidnapped."

"Shush." Paul murmured, as he leant over and slowly kissed

her. Stephanie closed her eyes, and opened her mouth for

Paul's tongue.

Their lips parted and Paul murmured "It wasn't your fault

about Holly. Nothing of this is your fault. Okay maybe the

hotel being trashed is." He teased.

"Will you shut up and kiss me again?" Stephanie demanded,

locking her arms around Paul's neck and giving him a

passionate kiss. Paul kissed her back, as he covered her

body with his own.

***

Eric glanced up when Val strode into the foyer. "I've been

looking for you." He sighed in relief and she scowled "I've

been trying to find Paul. I asked him to stay in his room

and when I arrived he was gone. We've got trouble."

Ace cackled, sweeping his hand to indicate the debris

around them "You think?"

"Gene and Peter have claimed Shannon and Raven." Val

growled, and Eric groaned "And Raven is the probability

manipulator."

Val nodded in affirmation "I know. First Bruce, now Gene

and Peter. The worst thing is Shannon teleported them to

god knows where. Wait until I get my hands on Gene and

Peter again."

Val surveyed the scene "Raven couldn't possibly have done

all this." She said looking at Eric with an arched eyebrow.

"I might have made Stephanie a little mad." He admitted

sheepishly and Val exploded "You should know better. She is

a delicate that has no control over her powers."

Eric nodded "At least I didn't do something as stupid as

Peter and Gene and seduce a delicate." He said, shaking his

head over everything. He added, "You don't need to worry

about Paul he's with Stephanie. He's finding out about her

gifts."

Val looked at him and her eyes narrowed "Tell me you didn't

leave those two alone." Eric shrugged "Paul knows not to

claim her." He began and Val groaned "No he doesn't. I

didn't get around to telling him everything yet. This is

all we need. Those two as Master and Slave. Do you have any

idea the chaos they would create together? And if Buttercup

was able to get his hands on them both. This would just be

all I need. Another one of you claiming a delicate. It's

bad enough Peter, Bruce, and Gene couldn't keep their

libidos under control."

"Which reminds me you never told me she could move things.

She threw me across the room." Eric said, glaring at Val

who stood glaring back at him, with her hands on her hips.

"Ah guys." Ace began as he looked at the counter where a

pen began to roll.

Eric looked at him and sighed in exasperation "Ace don't

ask me to explain about Master and Slaves again. I have

already twice."

"Um no. I think we're having an earthquake." Ace said as

the ground began to rumble. Eric and Val took one look at

each other and both groaned "Oh hell Paul didn't."

Ace cackled slightly "Oh hell it looks like he did."

Eric ran two steps at a time up the staircase with Val and

Ace following him, grabbing hold of the stairway railing as

the ground continued to rumble.

He burst into Stephanie's hotel room with Val and Ace

following, and scowled at Paul and Stephanie.

Stephanie sat on the bed in Paul's shirt as Paul agitatedly

paced the bedroom floor. "You just had to do it didn't

you." Val snapped at Paul and he glared at her "Did you

forget to tell me something by chance?" Turning to

Stephanie he said softly "Show them."

She nodded, and opened the top slightly to show the emblem

on her breast, before buttoning the shirt again.

"Nice tattoo. So if I claim someone they'll have my mark

then?" Ace said and Val exploded "You are not going to

claim anyone. If I find you claiming anyone I will do more

unspeakable tortures to you than that blasted buttercup

might ever do."

"Fine I'll link then." Ace said with a pout, and Val spun

around to look at Eric "You just had to tell him about

linking as well. That's all we need more than one gifted

being linked to this idiot."

"Hey!" Ace said with a scowl.

Val sighed and ran a hand through her hair "I'm sorry. This

is all wrong. It's just that this wasn't supposed to

happen." Looking at Paul she scowled "You were supposed to

stay in your room not wandering off to get laid by any old

bimbo."

Stephanie stood up, her hands on her hips "Who are you

calling a bimbo?"

Eric closed his eyes as the sky began to darken. "And she

tells me not to upset her." He mumbled to himself.

Val looked at Paul "Control her emotions. Now that you're

her Master you're even more attuned to her emotions and can

control the rage."

"So it's a good thing then that Paul claimed her?" Ace said

with a snicker, earning another glare from Val.

"Well it's obvious I'm not wanted. I'm going to find myself

a slave." Ace said with a cackle, receiving a glare from

everyone. "I'm joking! I thought maybe I might find

Shandi." He said, whistling jauntily as he moved out of the

room.

Val shook her head in disgust, watching as Paul talked in

low murmurs to Stephanie, stroking her back as he calmed

her.

"That wasn't what I meant about calming her." She grumbled

before she moved over the balcony.

Eric followed her "Actually Ace has a point you know. If

Paul can control Stephanie's gift then it would be perfect.

She still needs to be taught to control her gift and in the

meantime Paul can control it."

Val nodded "I'm aware of the benefits but do you understand

the trouble that will come from Raven and Stephanie both

being claimed. Peter probably has no idea what is going to

hit him with Raven. He better have the devil's luck on his

side if he tries to control her. And Paul's going to need

all his mental strength to control Stephanie's. It's not

even those two but any delicate claimed could be the end of

one of you. If Buttercup even got his hands on a claimed

delicate he could use her to get to one of you. Peter,

Bruce, Gene and Paul are all vulnerable to Buttercup now. A

claim bond leaves the Master and slave vulnerable to each

other.

It's not only that being claimed means that Buttercup could

use the claimed to find out where one of you are. A master

and slave know what each other are thinking, what they're

doing. They know everything about each other."

Eric nodded, before asking "You know more about it than I

do. Is there any ancient ritual to break the bond between

the Master and Slave."

Val nodded with a grim expression on her face. "There is

one."

Eric sighed in relief "That's great isn't it. I mean all we

need to do is do the ritual and the bonds will be broken.

So what is it?"

"Death." Val said.

"Oh maybe not then." Eric said with a grin.

"And killing one would ultimately kill the other. What

either pain one of them feels the one can feel threefold.

So you can see the predicament of one of them being

killed."

Eric nodded, closing his eyes as he thought of any of his

gifted being hurt in anyway. He'd die first before he let

Buttercup hurt any of them.

***

Holly shivered as she sensed the danger in the air. She

knew someone was coming. Someone so filled with pure evil.

She didn't know how long she had been here. She'd hoped to

keep count but in her drug induced state she hadn't been

able to tell when a day ended and a new one began. They'd

kept her pretty drugged up, although she had discovered if

she put the drugs under her tongue she could spit them out

when they were gone.

She quickly shut her eyes when the cell door opened.

Buttercup stared at the unconscious Holly with a malicious

grin. It gave him such pleasure to force feed her drugs. He

didn't trust this one. She had already tried to escape

once, and he wasn't taking any chances with her.

Looking at the unconscious figure in his arms he gently put

her on the cell floor. He stroked her cheek and smiled

viciously. He had plans for this one. She was extra

special. She would help him ultimately bring Kiss to their

knees.

Quickly stepping back he closed the cell door, his thoughts

drifting back to Lady M in the next cell. She was a

stubborn one, and refused to tell him anything. He would

change that, and take great pleasure in breaking her in the

process.

Holly opened her eyes as soon as the door was shut, and sat

up. Her eyes adjusted to the dark again, and in adapting

noticed the still figure on the floor. Kneeling down she

rolled the figure over.

She instantly recognised the girl unconscious, and gently

lifted her head onto her own lap, gently touching the gash

across her forehead. "Lorie I guess they surprised you

too."

She said softly.

She closed here eyes and silently prayed that someone would

find them and soon. She didn't know what plans Buttercup

had for them but she knew that they weren't good. She

prayed that the rest of the girls were safe, and hoped any

delicate was as far away as possible.

She had heard Buttercups plans for any delicate, and

Stephanie, Shannon and Raven's names had all cropped up.

What he had planned had scared her more than anything had

ever scared her. He especially seemed overly obsessed with

Shannon, and bringing Gene Simmons to his knees.

Opening her eyes she heard the cell door open, and looked

up to see a shadowy figure raise their fist and slam it
