Round Robin - Part 23
By SLK
Silk sat on the edge of a large round bed. She ran
her hand over the blood red velvet bedspread. It was not
much to her liking. Her taste ran more towards purple
satin. She looked around the well lit room and tried to
figure out where the light was coming from. There were no
visible lamps or light fixtures. There was only the stark
white walls and the bed, as if it was the only thing that
was needed.
She heard a door opened and shifted on the bed to see
who was entering. He entered the small nearly empty room
very confidently, as the door swung shut behind him. 'What
in the world was he doing....but Silk stopped at that
thought. If he was here then there was only one thing that
he wanted and always got. She found her voice and tried to
sound calm. "What are you doing here?" She asked, not
succeeding at keeping the nervous sound from her voice.
His only answer was to stalk over to the bed and sit down
besides her. Silk tried to scoot away from him, but he was
too quick. He caught her by one wrist and placed the other
hand under her chin, forcing her to look at him. She tried
to pull away, but he was much too strong. He leaned closer
and she could feel his breath on her cheek. Silk shut her
eyes, it wasn't suppose to be like this, hell it wasn't
even suppose to be him. Suddenly she heard the door open
and the sound of a familiar laugh almost at the same time
she felt him reach out with his tongue and lick her on the
cheek. Silk only squeezed her eyes tighter. This could
not be happening. "Gene! Get off her this instance!" Ace
reprimanded tried to sound stern, but his laugh was giving
it away. Gene's answer was a deep barely audible growl and
Silk felt him lick her cheek again. "Gene! Gene!" The
voice now sounding more feminine.
Silk slowly opened her eyes and was immediately
greeted with another wet kiss from a small reddish
pomeranian. Silk giggled as she pushed the little devil
down and stroked his soft fur. "Gene! You naughty boy! I
am so sorry!" Silk turned towards the lady's voice coming
from besides her in the isle. "Oh it's all right. No harm
done." Silk replied. "I don't know what got into him. He
was whining and the stewardess said since there wasn't alot
of people on here that I could take him out for a few
minutes before we landed. Then he just leaped out of my
arms and headed straight for you before I could stop him.
I have never seen him act like this. He usually hates
strangers!" The lady hurriedly tried to explain, obviously
embarrassed by his little companion. "No problem. Besides
he's cute and I like his name." Silk reassured the lady as
Gene sat contently on her lap. "Oh thank you, but I didn't
name him, my neice did. Ever since he was a little puppy,
that tongue of his has been none stop. So she named his
after one of those guys that wears all the makeup. I can't
remember their name. I think it was Love or Sugar or
something like that." Silk tried not to laugh. "I think
that you mean KISS." "Yes! That's it!" The lady
exclaimed. "That's why I am going to New York. I am
meeting up with a bunch of my extended family and we are
going to their concerts." Silk informed the lady. "Well,
then you want be needing another Gene!" The lady laughed
as she reached for the little pot licker, whose protest was
nosily obvious. "Now Gene!" Silk admonished very lightly.
"You be a good little man." Silk finished as she handed
the immediately quieted little dog back to his owner. "My
Goodness! You certainly have a way with animals." The
lady observed. "I guess so. I spent most of my childhood
on a farm and I was always more at home with the animals
and we always understood each other better than I
understood the adults." "Well, you have a good time and
again I apologize for Gene." "Oh you don't have to. I
hope you have a good trip also." Silk returned the good
wishes. "Thank you and Goodbye!" The lady said as she
left down the hall with Gene peacefully sitting in her
arms. "Bye!" Silk replied.
Silk leaned back in her seat and was thinking about
the dream she had. Just wait till Shannon and the other
Gene girls heard about it. Silk was one of the many Paul
girls on the list and they were always hearing about Gene
and Missguided Yumminess. Silk just smiled, maybe she
should keep this one to herself. Just then the Stewardess'
voice came over the PA and informed the passengers that
they were about to land and proceeded to give the
instructions for landing. Silk saw the 'FASTEN YOUR SEAT
BELT' light come on. She fasten hers and hoped for a
smooth landing. The trip had been uneventful as far as she
knew, because she had slept almost the entire trip. Thanks
to the several drinks that the Stewardess had brought and
then on top of that the several 'Southern KISSed' coffees
that she had asked the Stewardess to make.
She closed her eyes as she felt the plane descending.
If sheer will could have landed the plane, it would have
been on the ground within a matter of seconds. She was so
excited and impatient about meeting her KISSisters and
Brothers. She had been worried that she would know who
they were, because she had never met any of them. But
after several emails, she felt better about it. She was
assured that she would know them and she was to look for
the signs. 'Oh Good Gravies!' Silk thought. It was no
telling what would be on those signs.
Silk felt the plane touch down and said a quick thank
you prayer. As soon as the seat belt sign went off, and
they were told that they could get up. She hurriedly
grabbed her carry-on luggage from the overhead compartment
and made her way to the door and then down the corridor
with the rest of the passengers. She was so excited about
meeting everyone. She exited out the door and entered the
concourse. She suddenly stopped at what she saw, or rather
what she didn't see. Suddenly someone bumped into her.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't paying any attention and didn't see
you stop. Hey! Are you all right?" "Wh-what? Oh Yeah, I
guess." Silk turned around to see the gentleman that she
had seen on the plane earlier. "It's just that I was
expecting someone, well several someone's and I don't see
anybody." "Well what do they look like? Maybe I can help
you find them." He offered. "Well, I really don't know
what they look like." Silk confessed. "Uh, okay. You
want to fill me in on this and maybe we can find them
together. I have a few hours lay over and can't think of a
better way to spend it than with a new friend. My name's
Randy. What's yours?" He offered his hand and Silk shook
his hand. She wasn't too sure if she should go with this
man or not, but just then he reached around the back of his
neck and pulled a long sandy blonde ponytail out of his
collar and took the holder out, releasing his thick
straight hair. "You have long hair?!" Silk said
surprised, suddenly remembering the old Creole woman in the
New Orleans airport. She felt that he could be trusted.
"Yeah, I keep it done up for business meetings and such,
but wear it loose whenever I get a chance." Silk smiled at
him. "My name is Cynthia, but my friends know me by Silk."
"I like that. Well Silk, what you say that we find a place
to sit and get a coffee or something and you fill me in on
these missing friends of yours?" He asked as he took some
of her bags and they began to make their way out of the
concourse. "Oh wait a minute!" Silk turned back and went
over to the information desk and hurriedly left a note.
"Just in case they are just late." "Good ideal, now let's
go. I'm starving." Randy said as he led her out the
concourse.
They found a small cafe and ordered a light lunch and
an hour later they were talking like they were old friends.
Silk had explained everything and why is was in New York.
Come to find out Randy was a huge KISS fan and Paul was his
favorite too. He would be going to the concert if he could
get out of some very necessary business meetings. He was
hoping that they would end early and he could make it back
for the last one. "Well, let's go see if your friend have
gotten here yet." Randy suggested. "Okay." Silk
nervously agreed. It wouldn't be long before Randy would
have to go and check in for his other flight and she would
be all alone in a place that was no where near anything
like the small town where she grew up and still lived.
There were places there where people still didn't lock
their houses and left the keys in their cars. Randy picked
up on the nervousness in her voice. "Hey, I sure that they
have made it here by now or may have at least called." He
tried to reassure her as he helped her gather up her
luggage. "I hope so!" Silk replied as they headed back
down to the concourse where she came in.
