If I could live your life Chapter 1
By Star
"This isn't going to work Holly!" Stephanie Carovella said,
as she studied her appearance in the mirror. "Are you
kidding me? You're the splitting image of her!" Holly
Fielding said, as she smoothed back her auburn hair.
"Are you sure?" Stephanie asked, as she glanced critically
at her image. A petite redhead stared back her.
"I'm telling you Steph you could be the double of Madelyne
O'Neil. See for yourself." Holly said with a roll of her
eyes, as she thrust a copy of "Vogue" in Stephanie's face.
"Okay I get the point. I just don't know if it's a good
idea me dressing up as her and crashing someone's party."
Holly rolled her eyes "Where's your sense of fun? Besides
don't you want to see how the rich and infamous live?"
Stephanie shrugged one bare slim shoulder "Not really. I
mean sure it might be fun to take a peek but I could live
without it."
"Yeah well I can't. And besides I promised Jen that I would
get her Gene Simmons autograph in return for her loaning us
these dresses. She'll kill me if I don't return with it.
Besides we are all dressed up now."
"What if it doesn't work though?" Stephanie said chewing
her lip, as she stared slightly in awe at her appearance.
She still couldn't believe how good she looked. For someone
who lived in jeans wearing a dress as slinky as this was
new to her.
"It will. Madelyne O'Neil is out of town. No one will know
that you're not her. You can just pretend that you're her,
and you came back earlier than expected. By the time they
realise that you're not her you'll be out of there. No one
will know any different."
"I still don't know… "Stephanie said chewing her lip.
"You'll be fine. You have her mannerisms down pat. So stop
worrying and for god sake stop chewing your lip. You're
Madelyne O'Neil, supermodel and adored by millions of
panting men."
"Easier for you to say you're not the one who has to play a
role. Did I mention I suck at acting?" Stephanie added,
taking a deep breath and turned to Holly.
"So I look good?"
"You look fine. Relax. Just remember all the crap you got
taught by your Grandpa when it comes to acting. You'll win
them over. Now lets go and party."
***
Paul Stanley surveyed the room in boredom. He couldn't wait
until he escaped from here. Gene had bugged him to come
along with him to the party hosted by a mutual friend of
theirs Cameron Adams. Now after an hour he was wishing that
he hadn't. There was nothing more boring than listening to
socialite's mindless chatter.
His attention was suddenly riveted to the redhead that had
entered the room. He gave a sigh of relief when he
recognised her immediately as his current girlfriend
Madelyne O'Neil. Frowning he wondered what she was doing
back so early from England where she acting in her first
film. Shrugging his shoulders he moved over to greet her.
Stephanie gripped Holly's arm nervously. "See we've made it
now let's leave." She begged, and Holly groaned "Come on
Steph. You're doing fine. Relax and let me enjoy myself
please!"
Stephanie gave a curt nod of her head, and scanned the
room. She figured it wouldn't be too long before people
realised she was a fake. A carbon copy of the original.
That is if she didn't embarrass herself beforehand.
"Ah Holly we've got trouble." Stephanie hissed as she
noticed the man coming towards her.
"What trouble?" Holly asked, her eyes narrowing slightly
before she relaxed when she saw Paul Stanley heading in
their direction.
"What the hell is he doing here? I didn't think he'd be
here since Madelyne is away. Oh well no worries." Holly
said.
"No worries! No worries! We're going to be found out."
Stephanie said in panic.
"Will you relax! If Paul Stanley doesn't realise you're not
his girlfriend then no one will. Pretend you're happy to
see him. Give him the huge pash you've always wanted to.
Just get a hold of yourself." Holly hissed, and Stephanie
nodded quickly, taking a deep breath as Paul reached them.
"I thought you weren't coming back from England until next
week." Paul drawled, as he reached Stephanie's side.
"Well I came back early. You know how dreary England is."
Stephanie said, fluttering her eyelashes at Paul. Paul
grinned, "I'm glad you're back." He paused before murmuring
huskily "I've missed you."
Stephanie gasped softly as he pulled her close for a warm
kiss. Her lips opened without hesitation at the probing of
his tongue, as she leant into his warm embrace and enjoyed
the kiss.
Holly rolled her eyes dramatically, and made a loud noise
in the back of her throat. Paul rose his mouth from
Stephanie's, scowling at the disturbance, and looked from
her to Stephanie quizzingly.
"Madelyne are you going to introduce me?" Holly asked,
nudging Stephanie who looked at her slightly dazed.
"Huh?" Stephanie said, looking at Holly blankly.
"Introduce me." Holly said with a glare.
"Oh of course. I'm so sorry Holly. I guess I was so caught
up in seeing Paul again. Darling this is my new friend
Holly. We met at a quaint little café during my stay in
England. I just insisted that she come back here with me,
and meet you and our friends. Holly this is my boyfriend
Paul Stanley. Isn't he a treasure!"
Paul smiled "It's nice to meet you Holly." He drawled, and
Holly nodded "You too. Madelyne has told me so much about
you. But don't worry all of it's good."
Paul nodded before looking at Stephanie "Have you done
something to your appearance? You look slightly different?"
Stephanie said quickly "It might be my hair, and makeup. I
got it cut and styled slightly different from my usual way,
and improvised a little with my makeup. Why?"
Paul shrugged "Nothing. I like the new hairstyle, and your
makeup looks more natural than the usual way."
Stephanie smiled brilliantly at him, leaning up and giving
him a soft peck on the cheek "Thank you darling."
Paul nodded, wrapping his arm around her waist, and
murmuring in her ear "You can thank me much later darling,
and show me how much you've missed me."
Stephanie ducked her head to hide her blush, and Holly
grinned "I think I might mingle a little if the two of you
don't need me."
Paul smiled "That's fine with us."
Stephanie gave Holly a panicked look, which Holly ignored
as she darted through the crowd. She had noticed Gene
Simmons across the room and she was on a mission.
Stephanie glared after Holly. She was going to kill her for
putting her into this predicament. She had promised her
that Paul Stanley would not be at the party, and she
wouldn't have to worry about playing the loving girlfriend.
Not that she really minded doing that but she just knew he
would realise she wasn't Madelyne O'Neil.
"Why don't we find Cameron. I'm sure he'll be delighted to
see you." Paul drawled, and she nodded, wondering who the
hell Cameron was.
She let him guide her across the room to where a blonde man
was holding host to a small group. "Look who made it." Paul
said, as they joined the group.
"Madelyne! Don't tell me you flew home just for my party."
The man drawled, and Stephanie groaned inwardly. This
wasn't going to be as easy as she thought. She didn't even
know who the hell this man was. So much for Holly clueing
her into everything.
"You wish Cam. Isn't it obvious she missed me." Paul said
with a grin. Stephanie sighed in relief at the fact she now
knew who the man was.
"Cameron you know how much I adore a party, especially
yours." She drawled, holding out her hand. Cameron took it
and kissed it softly "As always you're as exquisite as
ever."
Stephanie nodded briefly, and Paul teased "Oh that's just
great. My girlfriend flew home to party and not to see me."
"Can't I do both?" Stephanie said, arching her eyebrow
questioningly, and Cameron said, "Of course you can. Have
you done something different to yourself?"
"I asked the same thing" Paul said and Stephanie rolled her
eyes dramatically "A girl changes her appearance a little
and it's the Spanish Inquisition. Remind me not to do
something drastic."
"You know you look beautiful no matter what you do." Paul
said, slowly sliding his fingers up and down her spine.
Stephanie shuddered at this, her eyes closing briefly in
pleasure. Paul smiled knowingly, and leant closer to her
"If you're good we'll leave soon." He whispered in her ear,
his teeth gently nipping her earlobe.
"I wonder what Holly's doing?" Stephanie murmured weakly,
and Paul smiled, nodding his head in the direction to where
Holly and Gene seemed in deep conversation "It would seem
her and Gene are captivated with each other."
Stephanie looked slightly surprised. Since when did Holly
have a thing for Gene? She wondered, arching her back
slightly against Paul's caressing fingers.
"Madelyne…Madelyne." Cameron said repeatedly, and Stephanie
put her thoughts aside. "I'm sorry? I must have been lost
in my own thoughts." She said sweetly, sharply telling
herself she needed to keep on alert if she didn't want
people to realise that she was an impostor.
"I was just asking how the movie was going?" Cameron said,
his eyes twinkling with mischief. Stephanie groaned
inwardly again. Like she knew what the movie was even
about. Holly was the huge Madelyne O'Neil fan, not her. She
barely knew anything about her, and didn't care either way.
"You know how they can be. Problems galore. I honestly
thought it would be a lot easier than it is. Anyway I came
here to party not talk shop." Stephanie purred, grabbing a
glass of champagne from a passing waiter. She drank it
quickly, enjoying the sharp bitter taste.
"I thought you didn't like Champagne." Paul observed, and
Stephanie halted "I know usually I don't but I picked up a
taste for it while in England. Blame Holly she educated me
on the finer champagnes and wines."
"Speaking of the devil here she is now." Paul drawled, as
Gene and Holly joined them. "I see you've met Madelyne's
friend Holly." Paul said to Gene, and he looked at Holly
slightly surprised "You're a friend of Madelyne?"
Holly nodded "I thought I mentioned it didn't I?"
Gene shook his head "What a strange combination you and
Madelyne. I wouldn't have thought Madelyne that you and
Holly would be friends. You're too different. Holly is so
down to earth."
Stephanie bristled at the obvious insult, and Paul scowled
"I could say the same for you and Paul." She said coolly.
"I'm surprised you came back from England so soon." Gene
said smoothly before adding under his breath "I was hoping
you would stay there."
"We've been through this Madelyne, Gene. You don't like
each other and that's fine. I just wish you would at least
try to be pleasant to each other for me."
Stephanie took in Gene's smug expression, and was tempted
to tell him where to go. Remembering that she was playing a
role she smiled sweetly at Paul "I'm sorry darling. You're
right of course. Gene and I are being naughty aren't we?"
Gene rolled his eyes, and muttered to Holly "I think I'm
going to be sick now." She giggled at this, and whispered
to him "Shush you'll get us both in trouble with her."
Paul sent Gene a warning glare, and Gene sighed resignedly.
He wondered what Paul saw in Madelyne. She was so glacial,
and obviously thought she was better than everyone else
was. Glancing at Holly he frowned. It seemed out of
character for someone like Madelyne to be friends with
someone like Holly. She would usually find Holly beneath
her stature. He couldn't shake the feeling that something
was amiss here.
Holly noticed the way Gene was staring at Stephanie
strangely, and pressed herself against him "So is it true
what they say about your tongue?" She cooed.
Gene smiled down at her, his eyes blazing with desire. "It
depends on what you've heard."
Holly smiled seductively, and trailed her fingernail down
his chest "So many things. I'm just wondering if they're
all true."
"Well why don't I show you then?" Gene growled, and Holly
purred "Perfect. I was hoping you might say that. Lead the
way lover." Gene nodded, and Holly winked at Stephanie and
Paul playfully "Don't wait up."
Paul watched them leave with a shake of his head. "It seems
like they've got the right idea. Shall we leave?"
Stephanie looked at Paul beneath swept eyelashes, and
nodded shyly. "If you want to." She murmured, and Paul
pressed her against him "Just in case you have doubts." He
murmured, capturing her mouth with his own for a brief
passionate kiss that left her weak at the knees.
***
Stephanie wondered briefly if she was making the smartest
move, as she let Paul lead her upstairs to the master
bedroom. She sighed as Paul pulled her close to him, his
mouth claiming hers for an urgent kiss. "God I've missed
you so much." He groaned against her mouth, his hands
sliding down her body. Stephanie knew that now was the time
for her to pull out while she had the chance. Part of her
kept telling herself that ending the charade now was the
right thing to do, but another part of her was telling her
that she only lived once, and it was now or never.
Stephanie closed her eyes as she succumbed to the kiss, and
whispered "I've missed you so much too." Her hands slid
down Paul's back, boldly sliding lower to move over his
backside.
She sighed softly as Paul's mouth slid down her neck, and
she felt the cool air hit her back as he unzipped her
dress. She slid one hand from his backside to slide to the
front of his shirt, her hands making short work of the
buttons.
"Eager aren't we?" Paul teased, and Stephanie nodded
"Very." Her hand slid down to his belt buckle, and his hand
covered hers. "Why don't we take it slower. We have got all
night you know."
Stephanie smiled softly "Well maybe I just can't wait to
get into your pants." Paul chuckled, "I know the feeling.
But let's just take it slow anyway."
Stephanie pouted. Leaning up she kissed him gently, her
tongue exploring his mouth, before sliding her mouth over
his neck, playfully biting it. Her journey continued down
his chest.
Paul groaned, his eyes closing as he stopped undressing
her. "Witch." He groaned. "Oh honey you know how to bring
me to my knees." He gently moved away from her, and pulled
her into his arms. He quickly stripped their remaining
clothes off, and led her to the bed.
"I thought you wanted to take it slow." Stephanie gasped
against his hungry mouth. "To hell with taking it slow. I
want you now." Paul growled, pressing her down into the bed
with his own body.
Afterward Stephanie kept her eyes closed, as she held Paul
to her body, enjoying the warm feel of his naked skin
against her own. She opened her eyes as she felt him gently
move. She smiled at him, and yawned sleepily.
"Tired?" He asked and she nodded "It's been a long, long
day. Jetlag must really be beginning to kick in." She lied,
and he nodded, rolling onto his back and taking her into
his arms.
"Sleep then." He ordered, and she nodded, already beginning
to feel drowsy against the warmth of his chest. Paul smiled
as he felt her breath slow, as she fell asleep. Stroking
her back he thought about the strangeness of the situation.
There was no doubt in his mind that this wasn't Madelyne.
There had been little events during the evening that had
made him think something was amiss but it wasn't until he
made love to her that he'd known for sure that she wasn't
Madelyne. Madelyne had never responded as wildly to him as
this stranger had. Yawning sleepily he held her tightly
against him and decided tomorrow he would find out who she
was, and where she had come from.
