Sector
By Lorie

As the drummer of the rock group Sector was getting
ready for their first of three sold-out nights on L.A . he
couldn't help chuckling. "Rick, what the hell is so funny?
Ever since you got that call you've been laughing like
you've got a feather up your ass," Joe, the lead singer and
rhythm guitarist yelled. Larry the keyboardist finished
pulling on his boot, "Yeah, what have you got planned. You
only laugh like that when you've got something going on.
Let us in on it." Rick smiled, walked over to the door,
looked outside to the left then right, then walked back to
his bandmates. "I've got a surprise planned for Spyder. The
one and only KISS is coming to the show tonight. They
should be here backstage anytime now." The other three
members looked at each other in shock. Spyder was their
lead guitarist and the only female member of the band. She
was also the biggest KISS fan any of them knew. Mike the
bass player laughed, "Is this in thanks for what she did
for you in Houston?" Rich smiled as he recalled the 'favor'
of 6 female nude fans she escorted into his room. The
girls got into her room by accident and instead of calling
security she 'corrected' the mistake by knocking on his
door and letting the girls run in to his room when he
answered it. "It's the least I could do. Fantasy for a
fantasy." Larry sat down and shook his head, "And she just
got the rest of her stage costumes in from Ethel today.
This should be good."
"I AM NOT WEARING THIS ON STAGE!" Spyder couldn't
believe her eyes when she looked at what was supposed to be
a costume. It looked like a can of purple silly string
exploded on Ethel's dress mannequin. "You know, Chancey,
I've got to talk to her about cloth allowance. If she needs
more she just has to ask." Chancey the wardrobe girl just
laughed, "Are you kidding girl! You would look HOT in
this." Spyder sighed, "I'm a musician, an entertainer, not
a stripper." As a female lead guitarist she had enough
battles to be accepted for her talent and not her body.
"What else is in that trunk?" Chancey rummaged around in
the trunk of the new costumes and pulled one out. "Here!
It's sexy and it covers some skin." Spyder looked doubtful,
"OK I'll wear it tonight and we'll see." With that she
started to get dressed for the show.
Paul, Gene, Eric, and Bruce arrived at the LA Forum
and made their way backstage. Their names were on the top
of the guest list and they were escorted to a private
reception room. They were interested to meet the band that
everyone seemed to be talking about. Sector was brought to
their attention a few years ago when Eric found an article
about them in a rock magazine. Bruce was more interested in
a poster of the lead guitarist. He hung the picture of her
in the studio they recorded Crazy Nights in. She was
wearing a tight black mini dress and stiletto heels that
showed off her body beautifully. The guitar she was posing
with was great too. When Bruce heard a recording of her
playing, he knew she knew how play it too.
It wasn't long that the male members of Sector
greeted their guest. They all talked about different
things: music, touring, record companies, etc. Only Bruce
was a little preoccupied and kept looking at the door
wondering when Spyder would come in.
Spyder looked at herself in the full length mirror.
The costume did look good and looked good on her. It was a
midnight blue catsuit of crushed velvet. It was void of any
sequins or rhinestones, but it didn't need any. It was off
the shoulders, the long sleeves attached under the arms
with a small strip of fabric. The highlight of the outfit
was the fact it was cut vertically down both sides from
armpit to ankle and held on to her body with a cris-cross
lacing of thin dark blue satin ribbon. A good 4 inches of
flesh was visible all the way down on both sides. The
pattern was duplicated on the sleeves. "WHOO, Girl you look
awesome!" Chancey walked around her in a circle checking
for threads and for fit. "Then why do I feel naked." Spyder
was nervous. True she wore sexy costumes on stage before
but nothing like this. Chancey laughed and grabbed her by
the shoulders, "Because this suit leaves little to the
imagination and it covers just enough to be legal. Now put
on that 'Spyder' attitude and get going. The boys are with
the visitors now." Spyder winced and wondered who they had
to kiss up to now. She hugged Chancey, squared her
shoulders and walked to the reception room.
Bruce was standing with Eric talking to Rick and Mike
when Spyder walked in the room. WOW! Was the only thought
that registered. He was so amazed by what he saw he dropped
the glass he was holding and it shattered at his feet. The
room silenced at the sound of breaking glass. Eric saw that
Bruce was embarrassed by his reaction and said, "Looks like
Bruce's likes your outfit." Spyder couldn't believe the
reaction she got but she had an image to maintain. In a
seductive voice she asked, "And what do you think." Eric
smiled at her and let the glass slide out of his hand to
the floor. Spyder giggled then stopped. She just realized
who the visitors were! 'Keep cool, girl,' she thought to
herself, 'you're in character.' She smiled and walked over
and introduced herself to all members of KISS and
maintained her composure. Inside was a different story, she
was shaking like a leaf.
Joe smiled and shook his head. He knew the real Spyder
was nervous, but rock star Spyder was cool and composed. He
walked over and told her that KISS agreed to join them on
stage for the encore and play a few songs. "That's great.
Bruce and Paul, make sure you two use my back-up guitars
instead of that junk Joe plays," Spyder said on hearing the
news. Just then their manager came in and told them it was
time to go. KISS made their way to their seats and Sector
walked to the stage.
As soon as they were out of sight, Spyder grabbed Rick
and threw him up against the wall. "Why the hell didn't you
tell me?" she hissed through clenched teeth. "What? Can't I
surprise you? I didn't want you to get all nervous before
they got here." Rick was talking normal but was laughing
like crazy on the inside. Spyder locked her fingers into
his chest hair and pulled, "You know I hate surprises!"
Mike came to Rick's rescue, "Come on you two. Kill each
other after the show. Let's go." Spyder released her hold
and shoved her finger in his face, "Thank you, you
asshole." And walked up the stairs. Rick rubbed away the
pain, chuckled, and made his way to his drum kit.
As the members of KISS walked toward their seats Gene
commented, "I wonder if she looks as good out of that
outfit, too." Paul nodded his head, "It would take a while
to find out. I figure it would take me five minutes to peel
it off of her." Bruce sighed and walked ahead. He wanted to
be the one to get her out of that costume but she would
probably go for Paul or Gene. He never got the girls.
That's part of the reason he was getting married, to have
an excuse. Eric watched his friend walk ahead with a
bummed-out look on his face. He turned to Gene and Paul,
"Guys you two want to cool it. You know he wants her." Paul
looked confused, "What are you talking about, Eric?" Eric
rolled his eyes, "You two always seem to get the girls and
he's taking himself off the market soon. Back off and let
him have a chance while he still can." Gene nodded his
head. He understood what Eric was saying. Sector was known
for their after show parties, he'll find someone there.
Paul thought about it then smiled, "Bachelor present." The
three joined Bruce and watched the start of the show.
It was time for her guitar solo. This was her favorite
part of the show. Every time before she started, the faces
of all the people who laughed at her and her guitar flash
in her mind. This solo was her way of flipping them off. As
she played, a look of sheer ecstasy was on her face. The
notes mixed with the screams and chants of the crowd. 'Man,
I love my job! This is why I get up in the morning.' She
thought as she scanned the crowd. She smiled and stepped
back for the finale. She struck a cord, threw her guitar 15
feet in the air, caught it by the fret board, and twirled
it around like a samurai sword. The crowd was going insane!
She tossed it again, twirled it around, and she landed in a
split on the stage. She hit so hard it could be heard
throughout the venue. She quickly plugged the guitar back
into the mic pack on her belt, laid over it and finished
her solo.
Bruce stood watching her with his eyes as large as
saucers. He felt himself grow hard as saw her twirl the
guitar around her and almost embarrassed himself when she
landed in the split. He gripped on to the rail in front of
him as he fought for control over his body. Eric looked
over and saw Bruce's white knuckles and shook his head. He
hoped Bruce would at least talk to her tonight just to put
him out of his misery.
Toward the end of the show, Spyder started to get
nervous. She was going to playing with KISS. The original
band was the whole reason she took up the guitar in the
first place. The best part was she will be playing with the
Bruce Kulick. She first saw him when she went with her
cousins to a Meatloaf concert when she was very young. She
has had a crush on him since then. It was going to be hard
to stay in character tonight. When she looked at him off to
the side of the stage with one of her guitars on, she
almost lost it. This was a dream come true. On stage during
the encore, she flirted with Paul and Gene a little like
she did with Joe and Mike. At one point Gene tried to lick
her, but she caught his tongue between her finger and thumb
and shook her head. Gene looked at her in surprise, No one
had every done that to him before, but he shook it off and
laughed along with her.
She saved her special attention for Bruce and he loved
every minute of it. He pulled every trick out of the book
as he played. She was amazed at the stuff he was playing
and tried the copy what she could. She was also showing off
her talent, playing like she never played before. He
watched in amazement. 'Damn she's good!' he thought as they
dueled solo for solo. Spyder couldn't help but flirt with
him as well. At one point on the side stage riser, she slid
into a split in front of him and threw her head back giving
him a good view of her cleavage. When it was all over, they
took their bows and ran back stage. On the way back to the
dressing rooms Spyder and Bruce were deep in conversation
about different guitar techniques.
Rick turned around and smiled at the two. Eric also
noticed the two guitarist, "Do you think those two will get
together later?" Rick nodded his head, "If Spyder has
anything to say about it, you're going to lose your
guitarist for a few days. She'd been in lust with him for
as long as I've known her." Eric snapped his head around in
surprise, "What?" Rick repeated, "She wants him in the
worst way." Eric laughed and pulled Rick close, "She won't
have to work hard. He wants her." Now it was Rick's turn to
be surprised. "Let try to help them along."
When the two groups got to the reception room, Spyder
and Bruce sat down on the couch and continued their
conversation. Eric sat down behind her and rested his chin
on her shoulder. Rick saw a classic Eric Carr joke in
progress and grabbed his camcorder to record it all. Spyder
shoved Eric off her shoulder without missing a beat. Eric
put his chin on her other shoulder. She turned around, "Do
you mind?" "No, I don't." Eric replied with a smile. When
she turned around to continue talking to Bruce, Eric put
his chin on her shoulder again. Spyder sighed and asked
Bruce, "Is he always like this?" Bruce seeing what Eric was
up to nodded his head. She quickly said "Excuse me," turned
around to face Eric and read him the riot act. When she was
done, she got up and turned around to start talking to
Bruce again. Eric moved quickly and sat down on the couch
so she would have to sit on his lap. She looked at Bruce,
"and he's in your band." Everyone in the room was laughing,
enjoying the joke. Spyder thought a moment, leaned over to
Bruce and whispered a question in his ear. He whispered the
answer back and she smiled. She looked straight in to
Rick's camcorder, put her arms back around Eric's neck and
said, "Hi, Carrie!" With that Eric threw Spyder off his lap
into Bruce's. Bruce caught her and was 'rewarded' with
having her breast shoved in his face.
After the laughter died down, Bruce asked Spyder if
there was someplace more private they could talk. She
nodded, "Let's go find my acoustics and you can show me
some of those tricks." They quietly slipped out of the room
and made their way down the hall. They found the room where
the crew stashed her guitars. After selecting a couple
acoustic guitars, they sat on a table in the room because
there were no chairs. They started playing, trading tips
and techniques, and talking. Spyder was having a little
trouble with one of the fingerings and Bruce helped her by
laying his hand on hers. " Your hands are so soft," she
commented in a soft voice. Bruce looked into her eyes,
"Yours are too." He started to stroke the back of her hand
with his thumb. She felt the electricity all through her
body. She couldn't move. Bruce reached out and stroked her
cheek, "All your skin is soft." They leaned into each other
and kissed. They didn't stop when they put their guitars to
the side and held each other in a passionate kiss. He
leaned her back on the table and explored the openings of
her costume. She rubbed her hands over his back and through
his hair as their tongues explored each others mouths.
Eric suddenly burst into the room, "Hey you two do you
want to…oops! I guess not." Spyder held on to Bruce so he
wouldn't stop despite the interruption. Rick looked into
the room and laughed, "Keep him in one piece. We'll see you
back at the hotel." She waved without letting Bruce go and
made a go away motion with her hand. When they heard the
door closed they broke their kiss. "Maybe we can continue
this in my room at the hotel?" she asked while running her
finger down his chest. "I thought you would never ask." He
answered while stroking her thigh. "Let's wait until
they're gone." She suggested while rebuttoning his shirt.
He leaned down and kissed her again. The door opened and
Mike popped his head in, "If you two are interested, we'll
all be at Maxim's." Again they didn't stop their kiss to
answer, they just ignored him. Mike continued, " I know how
much you enjoy a party and I know you've been cooped up…"
He didn't get a chance to finish and just got the door
closed in time to miss the guitar Spyder threw at him.
Out in the hall, everyone laughed. "I think they want
to be alone. Let's go." Paul said as he walked down the
hall. "Yeah, lets leave them alone. She'll be easier to
work with after tonight." Larry commented as he followed
Paul. The rest of the guys laughed and made their way out
to the waiting limos.
When Bruce and Spyder finally made it back to the
hotel and her room, they wasted little time. Bruce slowly
undid the ribbon holding her costume on, making her crazy
with anticipation. She forced herself to strip his clothes
off of him with the same deliberate slowness when she
really wanted the tear them off with her teeth.
They made love for hours until they finally collapsed
in exhaustion. He held her close as she laid next to him.
They made plans to spend the rest of her stay in LA
together and he told her of a couple of places he wanted to
take her. "Spyder can you tell me one thing." He asked
quietly.
She lifted her head, "Sure. What is it?"
Bruce brushed a lock of hair out of her face, "What's
your real name?"
She winced, "Promise you won't laugh." He smiled, "I
won't laugh. What is it?" She hesitated, "It's Matilda. I
was named after my grandmother."
Bruce continued to run his fingers through her hair,
"So how'd you get the nickname Spyder?"
"When I was little I would climb on top of things and
spy on others. So my dad nicknamed me Spyder with a y," she
explained. Just then they heard voices out in the hall.
"Guess who's back." Bruce said sleepily.
She sighed, "Just ignore them." She laid her head on
his shoulder and fell asleep.
Mike was busy outside Spyder's door with a can of
black shoe polish and a make-up sponge. His plans for the
evening fell through when his 'date' was claimed by her
husband. So when he got back to the hotel he decided a
little artwork was necessary on Spyder's door. He was just
putting the finishing touches on the goal post when Rick
walked up. Mike noticed the ice bucket, "Ice run?" Rick
smiled and shrugged his shoulders. He noticed the picture
of a girl with a guitar kicking a field goal through a goal
post. "Man, she is going to kill you!" Rick laughed. Mike
just smiled a wicked smile and went back to work.
The next day Bruce was going to go home for a little
to pick up a few things while Spyder was at sound check. As
he opened the door he saw the picture and was confused,
"Spy, what's this?"
Spyder stepped out of the bathroom and looked. "It's
Mike's handiwork. It his way of announcing to the world
that I 'scored'."
He laughed and kissed her, "I see you after sound
check."
She closed the door after he left and sighed. Mike
deserved to die for what he did but because she felt so
good she decided to give him a stay of execution.
The next two days were fabulous. If she wasn't doing
something band related, Spyder was with Bruce. Instead of
riding with the band after the shows to a party, Bruce
drove her back to the hotel and they made love all night
long. On the day she had to leave she went with him to the
studio and arranged to be picked up from there. When they
got to the studio, none of the other members of KISS were
there yet so they settled in to wait for them. She wanted
to say good bye to the others before she left for the next
city. In the studio she sat straddled on Bruce's lap and
had a little heart-to-heart talk. Both knew the last few
days were special but nothing else would ever come from
them. Bruce loved Christine, his fiancée, but he would
never forget Spyder. She had a tour and career ahead of her
and had no plans to settle down. They were both getting a
little depressed and decided to make the most of the
moment. She leaned him back in the chair and gave him a
long deep kiss. Gene walked in the door followed by the
other two, "So our guitarist returns. We almost call out
the national guard."
Spyder broke the kiss and laid her head on Bruce's
chest, "Don't they ever knock."
"No they don't. I've gotta go to work." Bruce said as
he lifted her chin with his finger. He started to give her
a little kiss but she had other plans.
Suddenly Paul cleared his throat, "Enough you two.
Spyder your limo is outside and we've got an album to
finish."
Spyder reluctantly climbed off of Bruce's lap and
said her good-byes. With one last look at Bruce she left
the studio. Bruce leaned back in the chair and put his feet
up on the soundboard. Eric threw a notebook at him, "I hope
you're happy!" Bruce closed his eyes, "Very happy and very
tired." Gene and Paul just looked at each other and
laughed.
When Spyder sat in her seat and the plane, she looked
over at Rick, "I know what you did. Thanks." Rick smiled,
"It's the least I could do. Now get some sleep. You've got
an interview as soon as we touch down." Spyder snuggled
down in her seat, hugged her pillow and drifted off to
sleep.
